Iran has a well-known brands and sort of marble in global marble market and Iranian marble is exported to many countries. Iranian Iranian Marble, onyx, travertine has a wide market share in countries such as China and the United Arab Emirates, India, Italy, Spain and Iraq. Iranian marble is sold in most of EU countries but not in USA due to restricted sanction regime on Iran trade. Countries like Italy, Germany, England, France, Belgium and Poland in Europe and the countries of South America, Australia and Japan are the importers of Iranian marble and Iranian marble is having a reputation in these markets.

Iranian marble is unique and as we know, Iran is the 8th country in marble mines considering the diversity of products and 80% of all types of marbles and building stones quarries are available in Iran.

Many Iranian marble are classified as the best quality of marble in the world and its availability in the word and export of such these marbles made them well known all over the world. If we see the map of marble quarries and mine in Iran, most of Iran’s stone mines are located in the cities of Isfahan, Kermanshah, Mahalat, and Qom and Kashan.

Some of Iranian marble are well branded and known in global market, Dehbid marble is one of the known in the world for its quality and unique texture and color. Others such as Pietra gray is also well known in global market due to its attractive color and texture among marbles.

Types of exporting Iranian marble

Iranian marble export is carried out mostly on two types: raw and unprocessed marble blocks, and processed marbles such as slab and tile. Iran has more than 6000 marble processing factories and among them all of the type of marbles are cut and processed in Iran, however, for some countries such as China, India and some Italian clients are mostly willing to purchase raw and blocks from Iran due to their internal tax and import regulations. Amount of export of Iranian marble

Cut and processed marbles such as slabs are often exported to neighboring countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan and Persian Gulf countries as Iranian processing is of high quality and clients accept Iranian finishing in these countries. The world’s marble total trade amount for global market is about two and a half billion dollars, of which the largest share belongs to the Turkey with 950 million dollars annual export.

Iran is the fourth exporter of construction stone after Turkey, Italy and Greece, and its stone export value is around 150 million dollars. Despite Turkey being the leader in the field of stone export, this amount is not extracted from Turkish mines and part of Turkey exports are from re-exported of products from other countries.

Export of marble slabs to Iran

In the past years, marble blocks were exported from Iran to the destination country in high amount, where it was processed, re-branded and also sometimes re-imported to Iran after being processed into slabs and tiles. It was happening during the time that we have more than 6000 Iranian processing marble factories in different province of Iran. Due to this, Iranian government has banned the import of marble slabs and tiles to Iran especially for marbles which are available in Iran market.

1- Travertine

Iranian Travertine has very divers color and is available in abundance from Red, Yellow, Silver, Beige and different sort and variations of different kinds. Most of the travertine mines in Iran are located in Isfahan, Mahalat and its province is responsible for a huge amount of travertine production in Iran. Hirad marble is one of the very strong exporters in export of travertine and can supply both blocks and cut travertine for clients. Travertine is well used in building exteriors and most of Iranian building are covered and cladded with travertine. Travertine can be provided in both filled and unfilled surface finishing and it is also used for walls, pool floors, flooring and paving. 2- Granite

This natural building stone is widely available in many countries and one of the most ancient used marbles in construction. Right now, granite is mostly used for flooring, yard paving, countertops and stairs. Iran has many sorts of granites but it is mostly used in internal market and a little portion of it is exported to the global market. Among the most famous export granite available in Iran, we have Morvarid granite, pearl granite and other colors. Granite is found in white, gray, red, black, pink, green and blue colors with mostly same texture.

3- Marble (marmarit)

Marble, which is one of the metamorphic stones, is composed of iron ore in the crust of earth and its main mineral of marble is calcite. This stone is widely used in building sculpture, making it an important export stone due to has high resistance to water and erosion because of its dense texture, and this feature has made this stone many potential uses. Its most applications are using for interior cladding, building flooring, columns and other internal parts of the building.

4- Onyx

Iranian Onyx are the most luxurious and expensive onyx material we have in Iran and it is mostly used for decorative purposes in low volume. Onyx is mostly used for status making, slabs on the walls, grave stones and other monumental volumes. Iranian onyx is available for export by Hirad Marble with pink, honey and white, green in block and slab forms. Iranian onyx quarries are mostly located in Khorasan and East Azerbaijan provinces of Iran.

What are the target markets in the world for Iranian marble

Export of marble to Oman

Oman is one of the neighboring countries of Iran in south east of Persian Gulf and has water border with Iran through the Sea of Oman. Oman has some marble factories mainly in Muscat city and a moderate production; however, most of its market is supplied by imported marbles. Iranian marbles like Iranian travertine, Iranian Granite and Iranian Onyx are imported to Oman by a number of importers and as Hirad Marble has showroom for marble in Oman, we can supply from Iran and even in Oman.

Export of marble to Qatar

Qatar is another neighbor of Iran in west side of Persian Gulf, which has a water border with Iran. Qatar has recently gained many marble suppliers attractions due to their plan for construction before world-cup in Qatar. Iranian Onyx, Iranian Marble and Iranian Limestone are the most exported sorts of marble from Iran in Qatar. Export of marble to Iraq

Iraq is another neighbor that has a great potential for exchanges with Iran, and almost the majority of our country’s industries are exchanged with Iraq. Iranian building materials specially marble are in high demand and most of Iranian medium and low grade marbles are sold in this market. Iraq is now interested in medium quality and finishing marbles and marble are exported to Iraq mostly in slab and tile formats.

Export marble to Russia

We have sea borders with Russia in Caspian Sea and Russia is one of the interesting markets for Iranian marble. Russia is mostly buying Iranian finished products from Granite to marble and they are also buyer of Iranian marble blocks as well. Russia has a very competitive market for marble and most of Italian and Spain marble products are also available in Russian market, which makes the marketing and sale in Russia very crucial for success.
